Seminario Dr. Antonio Ferraro - Photo-thermal effects in hybrid nanosystems
31 January 2024,16:30- Physical Seminar Series Announcement!
The generation of heat at the micro and nanoscale is a rapidly expanding
research field due to their breakthrough application in nanochemistry,
medical and life science. In this context, nanomaterials and nanostructures
offer significant opportunities and flexibility for fine control the
generated heat. The physical mechanisms underlying these effects are
diverse, mainly exploiting plasmonic functionalities in gold nanohybrids
(AuNHs) and efficient light trapping in silicon nanowires (SiNWs),
providing enhanced absorption. The common feature among the considered
systems is the excitation of thermal effects by visible light, resulting in
rapid and efficient heat generation with an adjustable temperature increase
of up to 600°C.
Venue: Seminar Room, Department of Physics, Building 31 C, 4th Floor.
